In the art room, we are all artists!
All of us are already artists! We draw pictures, use paint, build with blocks and legos, use chalk, play with play doh. In the art room we use the skills we already have to learn new mediums and techniques. We use our ARTIST rules to help us to remember how to act like artists when we are here.
A = Always do your best
We always do our best work. This does not mean that our skills all look the same. All of us have our own personal best. We will strive to maintain stamina throughout our projects to display the best we can do! We know that we improve by constantly continuing to practice.
R = Respect each other
Respect in the art room means being kind to our teacher and classmates at all times. We know our words are powerful, and we will use them to help our friends feel good about their work in class and use criticism only in a constructive way. We also will be kind to ourselves about the art we are making. If we are doing our best, we will be positive about the effort we are making.
T = Take care of your supplies
We follow all directions when using the art supplies. We put art supplies back where they belong. We make sure to put caps back on markers, put lids on glue sticks and screw tops back on. We throw out all trash. We do not damage the table covers. We use our supplies with respect and remember what we have learned about how to use them.
I = Inside voices
We use inside voices when working in the art room. If we can hear the background music, we are talking at an appropriate volume for creating art.
S = Sit on your stools correctly
We sit on our stools in the art room safely.
T = Tidy up your space
Our art supplies all have a place where they belong. Some typical supplies are available at all times in our supply stations at the tables. Special supplies are kept at Art Island. When cleaning up at the end of the class, we will always put supplies back where they belong.
